GENERATING IDEA AND ''THE PLAN''
The transformative redevelopment of a 3-story building into a 5-story boutique hotel in the heart of OSU, Ghana, exemplifies a commitment to innovative design, prioritizing the creation of comfortable, user-centric spaces.
The design process commenced with a thorough site analysis, capturing the existing building’s dimensions to inform the development of an accurate 3D model. Iterative refinements and cross-checks optimized the design’s relationship with the surrounding context, ensuring a harmonious integration with the OSU Ghana streetscape.
Collaboration with the structural engineer assessed the existing building’s condition, identifying potential structural challenges and informing the development of comprehensive structural modeling.
This ensured a balanced design vision, budgetary constraints, and building integrity.
The resulting design integrates innovative design principles, technical expertise, and contextual sensitivity. Locally sourced materials were strategically incorporated into the façade design, promoting sustainability and community engagement.
The façade design explores the use of repetition to create simple yet striking patterns, imbuing the building with a sense of memorability and contributing to the vibrant OSU Ghana streetscape. The addition of a rooftop terrace provides a unique recreational space, offering panoramic views of the surrounding cityscape while fostering a sense of community among hotel guests.
